Biopics are historical dramas that tell the story of a historical figure or figures, living or deceased, for the purposes of entertaining and enlightening the audience. The facts tend to be exaggerated with the plot dramatized to create an emotional connection between the audience and the main characters of the film. These films tend to emphasize historical events taking place at the particular era shown all to show it from the historical figure's point of view.
Pending on the era and the event taking place, Biopics can have multiple genres labels such as Revisionist Western in the case of The Revenant or War in the case of Patton.
