This list is based on a poll in 2017 by NHK, Japan's largest broadcasting company. It contains series and films. Only people from Japan voted, so the list gives an interesting look on what was considered the best anime in that year in the country that actually makes them. Most lists give a view on what otakus overseas find interesting, so this list is actually a lot different than most anime lists.
