These are the movies that somebody somewhere believes are worth watching (for a variety of reasons).
This combines recommendations by AFI, Cahiers du Cinema, Den of Geek, Empire, The Guardian, Insider, Letterboxd, Metacritic, Mark Kermode, Mubi, New York Times, and Rotten Tomatoes, as well as the books 1001 Movies to See Before You Die, 501 Must See Movies, 101 Movies to See Before You Grow Up and Beyond Casablanca. I've also included Academy and BAFTA winners for Best Film, Best Foreign Language Film and Best Animated Film.
I've also now added BFI, Film Stories, Filmweb and WhatCulture recommendations plus included the Palme d'Or winners and films included in the National Film Registry, as well as (hopefully) removing any duplicates.
