This list is compiled from several lists on Goodreads about Nordic noir, Scandinavian crime and Nordic crime mysteries. When I set out to make the list it wasn't meant to be so huge! I just wanted to delve a little more into the genre, but I kept finding more and more authors that I hadn't heard of and so kept adding them. So if you've been looking for an EPIC list of Nordic noir, I got you!
Technically, I'm pretty sure that only Sweden, Norway and Denmark are considered Scandinavian countries, but I've included books set in Finland, Iceland, and even Greenland because those would all qualify as "Nordic" countries so I think it's all good. Usually I prefer to read books set in warm climates during autumn/winter, but I've read these kinds of books before during the cold months and enjoyed them so I'll continue to snuggle up with my cat, a warm afghan, a big mug of tea and a nice Scandi murder mystery. Doesn't that sound heavenly?
