Louis Ferdinand Céline , born Louis Ferdinand Destouches in 1894 in Courbevoie, France, became a major French writer with his debut novel Voyage au bout de la nuit in 1932. Later he became famous for his antisemitic opinions and his links to the Vichy regime. Therefore he went on a trial for betrayal to the nation after WW2. He died in 1961. Today his writing and his style are still considered as revolutionary.
