One Friend, One Book - Page 3

This seems to happen to me a lot. I'm sitting reading a book somewhere and a coworker or a friend walks up and says: "I didn't know you liked to read. My favorite book is...." I guess people are worried they look illiterate. Anyway, one thing I've noticed is that for kids, if the book suddenly gets made into a movie, they become fanatic fans. I think they secretly believe they made it happen by buying that book. Adults, on the other hand, drop that book like it's poison since who is going to get points for a book when everyone assumes you just watched the movie? Steven King fans are constantly updating their favorites to stay ahead of that curve. P.S. I don't have a favorite book.
