"Choosing the albums for this ranking was no small task; putting them in some sort of harmonic order was a different beast entirely. But after ballots were submitted by the Paste writing cohort and our little staff scanned through twenty-three years' worth of reviews and site aggregates, we came up with these 250 albums via a formula that is part-taste, part-influence. I also wanted to highlight some releases that previous iterations of the Paste staff... didn't cover. This site has missed a lot of big projects over the years, and lists like these are good opportunities to correct our course.But let's get into the music.
