This Prog Top 1000 - spanning the period 1967-2017 was compiled by editor CL (Rock Report) at the beginning of 2018
To separate the best prog albums, I made use of two qualitative online databases: rateyourmusic.com (RYM) and progarchives.com (PA). RYM – established in 2000 – is a community-built music database where you can rate, review, catalog and discover new music as well as participate in contributing to the database itself. The PA project – established around the same time as RYM – came out from a common dream of a small group of fanatic progressive rock music collectors who decided to develop a website for the online progressive rock music community, with the goal of providing extensive progressive rock music information, as well as interaction features for the prog surfers. On both sites you can find every prog act you can possibly think of.
