This was the first outing of the Top 100 Books, Radio National's new annual countdown, where each year, Australians will be asked to vote in a different book-based theme. For this first edition, it was all about the best reads of the 21st century.
There were 287,990 votes cast in the inaugural countdown, crossing fiction and non-fiction, from worlds as varied as the court of King Henry VIII, to post-revolutionary Russia, to more than one Australian suburban street.
