Stephen King called him the greatest single influence on his writing, and he was a remarkable contributor to the original Twilight Zone. He wrote the screenplays for most of Roger Corman's Poe films, and the teleplay for the Emmy nominated "The Morning After"' as well as those for "The Night Stalker" and "The Night Strangler". Most importantly, however, Richard Matheson transformed the literary genres of Horror and Fantasy into what they are today. Equally adept in the Crime, Science Fiction, and Western genres, Richard Matheson was, as Harlan Ellison once said, "a writer's writer."
Note: "Bid Time Return" is the original title of what later became "Somewhere in Time". The novel was retitled after the movie came out. Matheson also wrote the screenplay.
