The original lists were published by sources including the BBC, Time Out, Empire, AMC, Sight & Sound, IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, & AFI among others. Book lists include 1001 Movies To See Before You Die & 501 Must See Movies. The consolidated All-Time Great Score developed by The ABB is a product of list coverage & rank. For each film, the # of lists the film appears on is multiplied by the film's average rank across all ranked lists. The result is an All-Time Great Score out of 100 for every film appearing on any of the lists. The closer a film's All-Time Great Score is to a perfect 100, the more likely that it appeared on the majority of lists & was ranked near the top. All films that made the Top 300 appeared on at least 5 different lists, so this consensus ranked list thoroughly weeds out all one-off selections that tend to clutter many lists."
