The Best Westerns Most People Haven't Seen but Should

The Golden Age of Westerns, which was from 1940 through 1960, was a time when the popularity of this genre was at an all-time high, but there were top-notch oaters made before and after the Golden Age. Not sure why 24/7 Tempo included "Shenandoah" (a Civil War film set in Virginia) or "The Yearling" (a film set in Florida), but I'll leave them on the list.
