The English Teacher's 240: 60 Writers by Whom He Has Read at Least 4 Works - Page 2

Our maverick English Teacher and Theatre Director looks at 60 writers by whom he has read at least four works. The list includes drama, fiction, humor, and general non-fiction, and is constructed to balance both the literary and the popular. Our friend could have kept going, but he thought 60 writers were enough. He also tried to focus on writers he actually liked, rather than those he had to teach; hence, no Dickens, Hardy, or Woolf, to name but a few. He also was surprised at the number of writers whom he stopped reading at 3 works, not to mention the sheer number of plays he has read over the years in order to keep his directing career current.
