The English Teacher's Personal Library of Penguin Classics
Since their inception back in 1946, Penguin Classics have done more to make great literature available to the general public in affordable, readable editions than any other publishing endeavor ( Including Oxford World Classics and Barnes and Noble Classics). Translations are chosen for clarity and readability as well as accuracy; the supporting apparatus ( introductions, annotations, text readings, and further reading recommendations) are all thorough without being obtrusive. Here, our maverick English Teacher lists the titles that he actually owns, reads, and uses in his teaching. All books listed are actual, physical books, and are distinctive in their Penguin Classics uniform black covers. Ebooks are NOT included. Duplicates represent different translations and/or editions within the Penguin Classics catalogue.
