The Tough Girl

The Tough Girl. She has extreme physical strength and fighting skills. Her decisions are logical, not emotional. She has a rational temperament. She is basically a male character inside a strong female athletic body.
The trope was critiqued as the Tough Girl almost every time was the Only Tough Girl in the movie so her character was too perfect, one dimensional and kind of boring (Resident Evil, The Matrix, Lara Croft), it even got the name "The Trinity Syndrome".
As time passes we can see much more complex characters with a stronger story and more individuality. A normal teenage girl who has to fight the vampires (Buffy), a "Born of pain" character whose transformation we can watch and understand (Kill Bill, Terminator 2), a professional with a tough "male" job (The Silence of the Lambs, Sicario).
