In the case of a tie, the show with the greater number of IMDb user ratings was ranked higher. Only sitcoms with at least three seasons were considered. The list almost evenly divides the 100 between sit-coms from the 20th century and comedies that aired in the 21st century — acerbic animated comedies, mockumentaries, family-themed shows, lives of social misfits, and the outpost of bar flies.
