They Shoot Pictures, Don't They? Brief Encounters Top 250* Short Films - Page 7

Silent and sound, narrative and avant-garde, this list documents the 248 film shorts (55 minutes or less) chosen by film critics at TSPDT.
Because this list is based entirely off of a pre-existing one, many of these films do not accurately reflect my personal tastes. I am not, for instance, a fan of the film makers Stan Brakhage or Hollis Frampton and would not regard their work as art or even anything worth wasting five minutes on. Nevertheless, several of their works, were included on the original list.
Another thing of note, is that there are a few highly upsetting shorts included among this list. The two immediate examples that come to mind are the "Zapruder film" of JFK's assassination from 1963 and "Electrocuting an Elephant"from 1903. The latter film depicts the real life electrocution of Topsy the elephant at Coney Island. This particular footage was only included with my extreme reluctance in order to accurately reflect the original list this quiz is based on.
