I compiled this ranking based on the most recent lists from over 65 different sources, including Rotten Tomatoes (Essentials & Top Ranking), BBC Culture, Bravo, TimeOut, Empire, Ranker, Paste, The Guardian, Rolling Stone, Reader's Digest, Death by Film, WGA, Total Film, WatchMojo, Vulture, & Letterbox'd. I came up with a point system to assign points to movies based on their ranking on each source's respective listings. For sites that didn't actually rank them, I allocated points using an avg midpoint value for each film & weighed them equally. We know that what people consider funny or even which films they consider comedies can be a very subjective topic, but the intention here is to gather enough opinions & arrive at a pretty good measure of where the general consensus lies. It was hard not to create a longer list as so many good ones bubbling under on my total listing of almost 1,500 films.
