U.S. National Seashores and Lakeshores

The U.S. National Park Service manages 10 national seashores and 4 national lakeshores. The first national seashore to be established was Cape Hatteras in 1953; Pictured Rocks was the first national lakeshore, in 1966. All of the national lakeshores are on Lakes Michigan and Superior, while 9 out of 10 national seashores are on the Atlantic Coast (Point Reyes is the only one on the Pacific Coast). A total of 13 states are represented here (10 for the national seashores, 3 more for the national lakeshores).
