Below is a list of the state birds for each of the 50 US states, plus Washington, D.C. and the 4 overseas US territories (Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands). Note that some birds are shared by several states (Northern Cardinal the most: 7 states). For added excitement, I've also included the regional bird for each of Canada's 10 provinces and 3 territories, the US national bird (the Bald Eagle), and birds designated by some states as official gamebirds (Wild Turkey, Northern Bobwhite) or waterfowl (Wood Duck). All of these birds are native and can be seen in the wild, except for the Guam Rail (extinct in the wild) and the Delaware Blue Hen and Rhode Island Red (domestic chicken breeds); the Ring-necked Pheasant (South Dakota's state bird) can be seen in the wild, but it is actually native to Europe and Asia. Have fun!
