Prophetic literature has been around as long as written language. Like, literally, the first cuneiform tablets ever discovered claimed that things were getting worse. But we all watch movies. We bestow awards upon movies and their stars. And we ignore the messages the movies are trying to send, like "Beware Populist Blowhards" (see "Bob Roberts," "A Face in the Crowd"), "The Vacuity of the American Media Is Lowering Our Collective IQ" (see "Idiocracy," "Network"), or "Don't Leave Your Child Alone With This Person" (see "American Beauty," "Manhattan").
