"The 2000s were a stronger decade for film, it was coming off the indie cinema boom of the '90s and these same independent studios started to get bought the likes of Fox and Sony during the aughts. The definition of an independent movie started to change this decade. I found the 2010's to be the weakest decade for film since … ever? At least, the '80s, a weak decade in its own right, was still churning out mid-budget adult dramas on a near weekly basis. In comparison, the 2010s felt like a whole other level of mediocrity.The term 'underrated,' for me, at least, means a film that slipped under the radar and wasn't talked about much at the time of its release, or even now.
