Science fiction is a broad genre of speculative fiction that revolves around futuristic, scientifically improbable, and imaginative concepts. Such concepts mostly stem from hypothetical scientific or technological advancements and discoveries, as well as from galactic or extraterrestrial involvement. This main source of inspiration is what distinguishes science fiction from Fantasy, which shares its speculative and imaginative nature but instead focuses on themes relating to magic, supernatural elements, mythology, and folklore. In addition to that, sci-fi typically takes place in distant future societies while fantasy is often set in Medieval or medieval-like societies.
