Was The Life of a Showgirl a disappointment? Should Bad Bunny play the Super Bowl? Is Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere a box-office flop? Recent weeks have seen plenty of high-profile music stories, but they've all come with a cost, or at least a whole bunch of haters. Such, I guess, is the world we currently live in. And with Grammy nominations coming later this week, brace yourself for more complaints.
We got some good albums in October, though—mostly from brave women who are not afraid to lay their truth on the table. In different ways and with very different sounds, Florence Welch, Lily Allen, and Brandi Carlile all confronted their own struggles and managed to be both cathartic and creatively thrilling.
