50 Books From 50 Countries: Women in Translation Edition

50 books by 50 women* in translation from 50 countries**
I have read and recommend all of these! (But definitely check the content warnings on these, they are NOT all happy fun time reads.)
For some countries it was really hard to choose a single book! In the cases where I had read multiple books, I selected either my favorite or one I thought was less well-known and deserved more attention.
I have fairly strict requirements for qualifying: each book must both take place in the country it represents (at least partially), and the author must have lived in that country for a significant part of their life. (Really it is too bad I was too lazy to list the country for each book. But you can figure them out.)
* well, 49 women and one femme non-binary person (Kama La Mackerel)
** not all of these are technically countries, but then, I was too lazy to add the country I was counting each for (except those that already had a listing with the country included) so fight me.
