These are the top movies on Rate Your Music (in future, Cinemos for it's movies section) taken from a custom generated chart that has been filtered to include only my personal favourite genres for film. Selecting a short list of favourites was quite difficult as I wanted to limit myself to a total of five:
Westerns (all variants)
Film Noir/Gris (original movement)
Gangster Films
Black Comedy
Psychological Thriller
This meant that I have left out some genres that I do love but overall not quite as much as the above, such as Science Fiction and Horror, which going back were my two favourite genres, but I know find the gems without them too few and far between. Of course some films falling into these categories may still appear in this list, if those films also have included tags on them.
