Arizona's Special Birds - Page 3

The Grand Canyon State may be famous for a big hole in the ground, but birders know Arizona has some of the best birding in the country. Most of their focus is drawn to the "sky islands", the mountains rising out of the desert near Tucson in the southeastern corner, where a number of local Mexican species barely reach the United States (though many are also shared with New Mexico and/or Texas). Naturally, that is where most of the birds on this list can be found, but I've also included a few specialties from northern Arizona, such as California Condor (reintroduced in the Grand Canyon), Lewis's Woodpecker, and Pinyon Jay, just to round things out.
