Demain La Science Fiction, French Critics Rate the Best SF Films in Cinema D'Aujourd'hui (1976)

Phil Hardxy compiled this list from the six top ten lists in Demain la Science Fiction (1976) from the now defunct irregular French magazine Cinema D'aujourd'hui on page 502 of The Overlook Film Encyclopedia: Science Fiction (The Overlook Press, 1995). They are ranked 1-5 and place in alphabetical order within the ranking. 2001: A Space Odyssey is the undisputed first place winner, and Bride of Frankenstein is #2. #3 is Invasion of the Body Snatchers through The War of the Worlds. #4 is The Mysterians (Chikyu Boeigun) through Village of the Damned. The rest tied for fifth place. Note that Hardy does not consider King Kong or The Lost World to be science fiction and did not give them entries in his Encyclopedia. He gives the date of Le Voyage dans la lune as 1909, but it seems unlikely this refers to Segundo de Chomon's version from 1908.
