Dragonlance is a shared universe created by Laura and Tracy Hickman, beginning in 1984 when TSR published the first Dragonlance novel, Dragons of Autumn Twilight. While the authorial team of Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weis wrote the setting's central books, numerous other authors contributed novels and short stories to the setting. Over 190 novels have used the Dragonlance setting, and have been accompanied by supplemental Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting material for over a decade in addition to video games, trading cards, and an animated film. Along with fellow D&D setting Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance is one of the most popular shared worlds in fiction. As of 2010, Dragonlance novels are no being published and the setting has been semiofficially retired in favor of a unified Dungeons & Dragons setting. Young adult novels and RPG supplements are excluded from this list.
