For several years, the Canadian Showcase channel ran the Showcase Revue every evening. They featured many foreign, Canadian & "avant-garde" movies. They also had "Fridays without Borders" showing (usually) smutty European films. This is a list of many of the English-language films they showed in 2000. Some are from 2001, some from my memory(like the 3 from the cute Halloweek ad). Canadian, Australian, British & American films are featured here, many of the British ones being mini-series like the ones based on Minette Walters' murder mysteries. Directors featured include Quentin Tarantino, Atom Egoyan, David Cronenberg & Peter Greenaway. One film I recommend-whose title eluded me for 15 years-is the Irish film "Sunset Heights". It has gangsters, vigilantes, a dog that steals underwear(!), a ghost & a denoument on Guy Fawkes night. The title sucks but the film is pretty good.
