List taken from IMDB, courtesy of user "Mohi". A great list to consult if you're looking for something to watch. There are, as of this writing, 285 titles. I like this list because it has a beginner-friendly mix of Hollywood movies with touches of foreign, art house, and silent films so that you may get your feet wet, so to speak, in the cinematic form and explore its diverse genres and styles. Though you may take exception to the title of the list, its content comprises a good jumping off point for those interested in understanding and studying cinema more deeply. That there are some great and edifying films included here is indisputable.
NOTE: The list hasn't been updated since 2012, yet I don't mind this very much. There haven't been too many great films in the past couple of years, and the few standouts have already been largely talked about/ viewed. Also, the inclusion of a few recent films would not change the overall impression of the list.
