Inspired by List Challenges – You Win Some, You Lose Some!

List Challenges has inspired me to read books I might not otherwise have considered. This is a list of books in which I found little merit and/or that they did not live up to their hype. Many were formulaic or cliché (so much YA). Many were too long, even for serialized publications, and, hey, when did they invent editors? Some were preachy or toxically racist and sexist; no amount of context can excuse that. I am glad I read most of them. Only a few were a waste of time (Batuman's The Idiot; Possession). This led me to look at List Challenges about 'new classics' because, I agree, we really need some new ones.
