Marvel Comics Event: The Heroic Age/Chaos War

Like Dark Reign before it, Heroic Age was a decentralized event without a main story. It put the focus back on tried-and-true Marvel heroes doing what they do best – saving the world. It was primarily used as a platform to relaunch the Avengers line – plus solo books Black Widow, Hawkeye & Mockingbird, Steve Rogers: Super-Soldier. It lasted as a line-wide rebranding for 2010.
Chaos War was a grande finale to Greg Pak and Fred Van Lente's "Incredible Hercules" book. Marvel editorial decided to make the book an event and added a number of tie-in books to the rest of the Marvel universe. The tie-in books were near impenetrable to casual fans, and as such the "event" was a failure, and the whole thing was quickly brushed under the rug.
