Metal Music Archives Presents 1981 in Metal, Hard Rock & Hardcore Punk

In 1981 metal music really begins its diversification process, with the first album identified as speed metal appearing in the form of Venom's Welcome to Hell, while the glam metal scene has also started to emerge. The NWoBHM continues to deliver essential British metal albums, while other countries including American and Germany are on the rise. This is also the first year that we include Hardcore Punk in this series, thanks to the debut of Black Flag and a few others.
