Schlocko's 25 Favorite Film Adaptations of Novels

Not necessarily the most faithful adaptation -- for example, "Mildred Pierce" adds a murder, "Strangers on a Train" omits one. But if the movie (a) conveys the spirit of the book and (b) is at least halfway decent, I say it qualifies as a successful adaptation.
