Science Fiction Films: 1990-1999 - Page 4

Had I realized the huge proliferation of titles in this decade, I would have split it into two lists, 1990-1994 and 1995-1999. Phil Hardy's The Overlook Film Encyclopedia: Science Fiction (The Overlook Press, 1995) stops in 1994 with Welcome II the Terror Dome because it was published in 1995 (Hardy passed away in 2014). This list has over 1,200 more than the previous lists (including 169 titles that should have been previously included), augmenting Hardy with both Movie Recall by Videolog and The Internet Movie Database (although I eliminated a lot of films about time travel by magic, ghosts, demons, and the supernatural unless clearly genre hybrids). I followed Hardy's lead including Charles Band straight-to-video productions, animation, foreign, kidvid, and even sexploitation, as well as entries in non-science fiction series with science fiction content, and excluding King Kong/Lost World (Doyle) adventures. Italian production slackened, Japanese boomed, and SFX dominated.
