Nathan's 25 Best Science Fiction Films

What I think to be the best I've seen, not necessarily a list of favorites.
Though within the ranking of this list, I may enjoy one film over the other (ie; The Thing would score higher on a general list) the way I've ranked this list is how these films express conceptual, philosophical, political, satirical and social ideas. They utilize the genre's potential to display ideas that provoke thought and discussion. For example, Star Wars is sci-fi in aesthetic only, it doesn't explore the genre's potential. Therefore, not on this list. Same goes for great movies like Back to the Future or the Fifth Element.
