The Concise Oxford Companion to English Literature - Page 3

The works in this challenge are derived from an appendix in the most recent version of TCOCTEL (2011). The appendix is a chronology of important literary works in English interspersed with seminal works in other languages.
This is a concise (duh!) version of Scarlett's 2020 challenge at the link. It may be more palatable in length for many readers. The source book used in this case was also published a few years later. As such, there are many different extra books on this list, throughout the time span covered (c.1000 to 2011).
For some works, e.g. the Qur'an, the entry's date corresponds to the first translation into English.
