The Coretta Scott King Award - 1969 to 2021

The fifth in a series of lists focusing on the winners of the many children's book awards of the American Library Association (ALA) and its many affiliates throughout the course of the first hundred years of the Newbery Medal. This time, it's the Coretta Scott King Award, which is awarded for "the most distinguished portrayal of African American experience in literature for children or teens". For those books on this list that won for the writing, only the authors of those works are credited. As for the ones on this list that won for the illustrations, only the illustrators are credited. If it won for both the writing and the illustrations, both the author (s) and the illustrator (s) will be credited.
