The English Teacher's Top Ten: The Films of Victor Fleming

Our maverick English Teacher and movie buff goes the "Top Ten "route with movie makers, movie stars, and movie genres. Up next - Victor Fleming. Unfairly dismissed in recent years as a Hollywood hack who got lucky by "falling into" the classics "Gone With the Wind" and "The Wizard Of Oz", Victor Fleming was actually much, much more. He was an innovator ( he was the one who figured out how to take sound outside of the studio and how to move the camera while using sound), an elegant craftsman with a wonderful sense of composition, and, most of all, a director who understood pace and how to make a story move.
