Great Stews From Around the World - Page 2

Stews seem to be a universal dish among the various cultures and regions of the world. It's amazing how similar ingredients can be used over and over, but by the addition of a local ingredient or two, or more importantly, distinctive spices, makes what appears to be basically the same dish into something unique and memorable. A long slow braise can make otherwise inexpensive and tough cuts of meat tender and bursting with flavour. Seafood can be made into rich and tasty dishes entirely different than any other preparation, as can medleys of vegetables. This is a list of stews from around the world. A few visits to a couple of buffet restaurants (e.g. an Indian Restaurant) and one could check off half of this list easily. How many have you had?
