Here is a top 500 list as determined by proprietary algorithm at thegreatestbooks.org. It includes all genres across all time periods. Their calculation was done by pulling together and ranking the titles from 300 or so reputable lists (by writers, critics, editors, vox populi, etc).
Since much of these books are worth reading anyway, I sorted them by publication year instead of "popularity" for enhanced historical context and a sense of continuity.
