Umbrellas' Top 100 Films of the 1940s

These are my favourite 100 films from the 1940s decade, ranked in descending order of how much I like them. Probably more than for any other decade my list corresponds quite closely with standard favourites lists; well, it can't be helped - there just are several dozen luminously brilliant achievements from this decade which it would be crazy to leave out. Never mind! When I get there, the list for the seventies is going to look much stranger.
