Home to five national parks, famed mountain ski areas, and of course the Great Salt Lake, Utah is also a fantastic place to look for birds. Many desert species reach their northern limits in southern Utah, while scores of waterbirds make use of the Great Salt Lake at all times of the year. The higher mountains are home to a few bird species more typical of areas further north, as well as all the usual Rocky Mountain specialties, and riparian areas host some birds usually associated with the eastern United States. For the nature lover, Utah is full of possibilities.
