Best Films Scott Andrew Hutchins First Saw in 2022

Here is a list of all the films I saw for the first time in 2022 that I rated at least 8/10. The first 22 are films I gave a rating of 10/10. 81-115 are films that received an 8. I placed the films in ranked order, but I should say that I think the ranking of them is a lot more gratuitous than assigning a number and was shuffling them around up until I published. I don't really consider genre or "brow" in my rating, let alone a film's reputation, just my years of knowledge as a film student as to what is brilliant writing and filmmaking (classics like Shakespeare have to be judged strictly in terms of filmmaking). The Girl Who Knew Too Much and Evil Eye are two different versions of the same film on the same DVD. Unlike Tim Lucas, who provided audio commentary, I preferred the darker Italian cut. Excellent anonymously made supplements I saw include A Ghost Story And The Inevitable Passing of Time and The Dark Depths of Black Manta, which go beyond the usual standard.
