Birds Named After Habitats

A list of birds found in North America north of Mexico that are named after their preferred habitat. Note that this excludes birds named after geological features (such as Rock and Canyon Wrens) or specific plant types that may be characteristic of their habitat (such as the sage-grouse); those birds will be treated in separate lists. This list does, however, include birds like Barn Owl and Chimney Swift that are named for their usage of man-made structures.
