Birds New to North America: 1980s

This is a list of rare birds that were first recorded in the U.S. or Canada in the 1980s, presented in chronological order; the list comes from Appendix C of Rare Birds of North America (Howell et al, 2014). Sixteen of these birds come from the Palearctic (Europe and/or Asia); 14 are from mainland tropical America from Mexico southward; White-chinned Petrel and Kelp Gull nest in the southern oceans; and Providence and Bulwer's Petrel nest in tropical oceans.
