First in a new series! A selection of 75 albums released in 1980 from the metal and hard rock genres. In 1980 the New Wave of British Heavy Metal is at it's height with the release of Iron Maiden's debut, two Saxon albums and more, while pre-NWoBHM acts like Black Sabbath and Judas Priest are still going strong. Metal hasn't diversified beyond the traditional style much yet, but the sub-genres will start to explode over the next decade.
