Film movements are periods in which groups of like-minded film-makers follow a common philosophy, style, aesthetic, goal, or set of rules in order to separate themselves from the norm and make a brand new form of film. Movements are related to politics of regions they're based in, or are seen as a rejection of local/national film-making tropes and commonalities. A common form of movement is a so-called "new wave" relevant to its location, with the British New Wave, the Finnish New Wave, the French New Wave, the Japanese New Wave, and New Hollywood being just a few examples.
