I only saw 9 new birds in 2007, and even fewer (6) in 2008; neither was enough for their own list, so I consolidated them into one list here. During this period, I was finishing high school and starting community college, and my relatives who'd been living in Alabama moved back to California, to the deserts north of L.A. Thus, I was able to see some desert birds (Black-throated Sparrow, Verdin) when visiting them at their new home, while a post-high school day trip into the nearby mountains allowed me to see some conifer forest specialties (Pygmy Nuthatch, White-headed Woodpecker). Two of my 2007 birds were "retroactive" lifers: the introduced Scaly-breasted Munia was added to the ABA Checklist in 2013, while the Little Blue Heron was a bird I thought I saw for the first time in 2010 in Texas, until I re-discovered my photos from 2007 of the herons at their SeaWorld San Diego nesting colony.
